Up to 14.4 kWh Home Battery Storage, 5KVa Inverter Charger with built in solar controller & 4kW of Solar Panels

  • DIY solar and battery storage kit, designed to generate and store solar.
  • Store excess power that would normally be sent back to the grid to use later or overnight.
  • Can be used to be added to an existing solar PV system. This will allow you to increase the size of your solar array.
  • Charge the batteries from cheap rate electricity from providers like Octopus Energy.
  • Have reliable backup power in a power cut.
  • Simple to install.
  • Pre-programmed by us before it is sent out.
  • Built in online monitoring system which can be used and controlled on a mobile phone.

Solar and battery storage kit

This is a Victron home battery storage and solar kit that can be used as the primary source of renewable power for your property.

You could also add it as a battery storage system to an existing solar installation, with the added benefit of some more solar power that can also charge your battery from the solar panels that are included in the kit.

How to install

The installation of this kit is relatively straight forward requiring solar panels to be placed on the roof or on the ground, with DC cables brought back to the inverter charger and connected to the internal MPPT. it would then be required to wire this into your electrical consumer unit and the blue CT and cable to be run to your incoming supply to monitor what you're drawing from the grid. the batteries need to be placed next to or underneath the inverter and a cable and isolator run to the bottom of the inverter charger. once this is done you are ready to produce renewable electricity

How it works with an existing Solar system

When this Victron home battery storage system is set up to work with an existing solar installation, you would wire it into the mains and connect the blue CT clamp around the incoming supply. This CT detects the flow of power in and out of your property when there is excess solar the CT will detect this and allow the battery to charge. However, when there is no solar or little solar and power from the grid passes by the CT this will tell the battery to discharge and cover the load that the grid was supplying, this means that your bill will be reduced and your purchasing of electricity from the grid will be less

How this battery works with cheap rate electricity

If you don't have solar or even if you do have solar you can charge your battery from cheap overnight electricity using a smart meter or Economy7. This means that while you're asleep your battery system can come on automatically and charge from this cheap rate electricity and again turn off automatically, this is normally between 4 & 6 am. This would enable you to run your house on batteries for the remainder of the day depending on your usage.

Power during a power cut or blackout

Built into the Victron inverter charger is a secondary output which can be used in the event of a power cut to provide power from the batteries to keep your house powered with electricity to run things such as fridges freezers boilers and lights

Online monitoring

Built into the Victron is a GX device, this GX device will plug into your Internet connection or connect to Wi-Fi and allow you to monitor and control your system from anywhere in the world. This GX device is controllable from your mobile phone or laptop and allows you to make settings changes and to enable and disable charging schedules. It would also allow Callidus to come onto the system remotely and check that it's working correctly once you have set it up.

If you are installing this alongside an existing solar system, then you may wish to see what is being produced by that existing solar system on the Victron monitoring. This will require the purchase of an ET112 meter and RS485 to USB cable, this will allow you to see what's being produced by the existing solar system, however, it isn’t necessary for the system to work as the CT provided will capture all energy as it tries to exit or enter the building. the links below are for these two products

This kit is a 48V 5000 VA system with a choice of Lithium battery storage

The all-in-one solar power solution

The Victron EasySolar-II GX integrates the following elements:

• A MultiPlus-II inverter/charger

• A SmartSolar MPPT -Tr solar charge controller

• A GX device with a 2 x 16-character display.

These elements come prewired together inside a single unit. This greatly simplifies most installations, saving time and money.

Grid in-line topology

The EasySolar-II GX will use excess PV power to charge the batteries or to feed power back into the grid and will discharge the battery or use power from the grid to supplement a shortage of PV power. In case of a power outage, the EasySolar-II GX will disconnect the grid and continue to supply the loads. Loads that should shut down when AC input power is not available can be connected to a second output (not shown). These loads will be taken into account by the PowerControl and PowerAssist function in order to limit AC input current to a safe value.

Grid parallel topology

The EasySolar-II GX will use data from the external AC current sensor (must be ordered separately) or power meter to optimise self-consumption and, if required, to prevent grid feed. In case of a power outage, the EasySolar-II GX will continue to supply the critical loads

Display and Wi-Fi

The display reads battery, inverter and solar charge controller parameters. The same parameters can be accessed with a smartphone or other Wi-Fi enabled device. In addition, Wi-Fi can be used to set up the system and to change settings.

Solar charge controller

The DC output of the SmartSolar MPPT is parallel wired with the DC connection of the MultiPlus-II inverter/charger. The on/off mechanism of the MultiPlus-II also controls the SmartSolar MPPT.

GX device

The integrated GX device includes:

• A BMS-Can interface. This can be used to connect to a compatible CAN-bus managed battery. Note that this not a VE.Can compatible port.

• A USB port

• An Ethernet port

• A VE.Direct port

The GX device controls the MultiPlus-II and the SmartSolar MPPT with respectively a VE.Bus and a VE.Direct connection.
