LE-v150 Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Advanced Kit (12/24/48V)

The Leading Edge LE-v150 is a rugged, silent and highly reliable vertical axis wind turbine designed to provide power outputs of up to 200 watts for a host of different battery charging applications. The LE-v150 Advanced Kit includes the Tristar 45A diversion charge controller and 300W dump load.

The wind turbine is connected directly to the batteries and the Tristar charge controller is also connected to the batteries. When the batteries are fully charged, the controller diverts excess power generated by the wind turbine into the 300W dump load, dissipating the power as heat. A dedicated solar charge controller should be used as the solar and wind systems are parallel systems, both connected to the batteries.

Side-mount the turbine on a standard scaffold pole (48-50mm outer diameter) using 70mm U-bolts.

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A 3-4 WEEK LEAD TIME ON WIND TURBINES

Where the LE-v150 turbine is installed alongside more than 150W of PV, the Tristar charge controller and separate dump load is supplied instead of the DL-300 controller which is supplied in the standard kit. This provides greater flexibility to set the regulation voltage (the point at which power from the wind turbine is dumped as the batteries become full) to above that set by the PV controller. A run / stop switch is not required, but can be used if desired. 

For harsh locations where wind regularly gusts to over 27bm/s (60mph) or temperatures drop down to -40 degrees C, the LE-v150 extreme turbine is available for you to choose. This features uprated alternator, polycarbonate cowlings, stainless steel blades for extra strength and is painted black to reduce the buildup of rime ice.
