WINTER IS PART OF THE DESIGN

Designed for your winter demand—not just summer sunshine.

Off-grid power needs to work when solar generation is low as well as when the sun shines. We assess your location, daily consumption, appliances and seasonal use to recommend the right balance of solar, battery storage and backup generation.

Generate when daylight is available

Solar supplies daytime demand and recharges the batteries. We assess the usable array space, shading and seasonal generation.

Store energy for later

Battery capacity is sized around your loads and the reserve you need. A larger battery stores more energy; it does not create additional generation.

Plan another charging source

Where required, a suitable generator can supply demand and recharge the battery during prolonged low generation or higher usage.

SELECTED TO WORK TOGETHER

Generation, storage and control. One coordinated system.

We select the solar panels, inverter, batteries and controls around your demand. Final equipment and warranty terms are confirmed in your proposal.

UNDERSTAND THE COST & SCOPE

Choose the support your project needs.

A supply-only kit and a complete installed project have different costs. Your recommendation will explain what is included, what the site still needs and which decisions affect the final price.

Equipment supply

A specified system delivered throughout the UK for installation by your chosen competent installer. Final connections and site work need to be planned.

Pre-built & programmed

Choose an in-house assembled and tested power board to reduce component assembly and configuration on site. Site installation and commissioning are still required.

Supply & installation

Installation across mainland UK, with the survey, electrical work, commissioning and handover scope agreed in your proposal.

FROM FIRST QUESTION TO HANDOVER

YOUR PROJECT. OUR ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE.

Let’s plan the right off-grid system.

Answer a few questions about your site and what needs power. You do not need to know which inverter or battery to choose.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START?

Practical answers about off-grid power.

Will an off-grid system work through a UK winter?

It can be designed for year-round use, but winter generation and prolonged dull weather need particular attention. We assess your demand, solar potential and battery reserve, and whether a generator or another charging source is needed. We do not assume that a battery alone can cover an extended shortage of generation.

Will I need a generator?

That depends on your location, seasonal demand, available solar space and reliability requirements. Many year-round UK off-grid sites benefit from generator charging. Automatic start/stop requires a suitable generator and controls. We will explain the proposed backup arrangement and whether generator supply is included.

Can I run heating, an electric shower or charge an EV?

These can be substantial loads. We need to assess energy consumption, simultaneous use, starting currents and charging sources before recommending a system. Tell us about them early; a larger inverter alone does not provide more stored energy or winter generation.

How much will my off-grid system cost?

A supply-only kit, a pre-built power board and a fully installed project have different scopes. Cost depends on loads, solar and battery capacity, generator requirements and site work. We will identify the appropriate route and explain equipment, installation and any exclusions in your proposal.

Can you supply a pre-built system for my installer?

Yes. We offer pre-built and programmed systems with equipment supply throughout the UK. The agreed board is assembled and tested before dispatch. A competent installer still needs to complete the site-specific electrical work, final connections and commissioning.

Where do you install?

We offer installation across mainland UK and supply-only delivery throughout the UK. Tell us your site postcode and preferred route so we can confirm access, scope and practical arrangements.

Can you upgrade my existing off-grid system?

Often, yes. We review the inverter, batteries, generator, protection and cabling before deciding what can be retained. Compatibility and condition matter; adding batteries is not always the answer to a power limitation.

Can I monitor it remotely?

Compatible Victron systems can show solar generation, battery state and consumption through VRM. Remote access requires suitable monitoring hardware and an internet connection at the site. We will confirm the monitoring and support arrangements for your system.

Does going off-grid remove planning or installation requirements?

No. Off-grid describes the electrical supply arrangement; it does not remove property, planning or electrical installation requirements. Roof or ground mounting, battery location and generator arrangements need to be checked for your project.

What happens after I enquire?

A specialist reviews your answers and discusses the requirements. The next step may be further load information, an equipment recommendation or a site assessment before a final design and quotation. You do not need a finished specification to start.

I already have mains electricity. Is this the right page?

If your main aim is lower electricity bills or backup during power cuts, a grid-connected solar and battery system may be a better route. Visit our grid-connected solar and battery quote page, or tell us about a costly new connection you are comparing.
