The Victron Galvanic Isolator VDI-32 A is engineered to protect your vessel's underwater metals from corrosion caused by stray DC currents. It features two diodes connected in an anti-parallel configuration, allowing current flow only above a threshold voltage of approximately 1.4 VDC. This design ensures that only unwanted currents are blocked, while allowing normal operation of the AC circuit.

With its IP67 rating, the VDI-32 A is fully protected against dust and can withstand immersion in water up to 1 meter deep, making it ideal for marine environments. Its anodised aluminium heat sink provides efficient heat dissipation, ensuring reliable performance even under demanding conditions.

Installation & Ventilation

  • Mounting Orientation: Must be mounted with its length vertical to ensure maximum cooling through natural convection.
  • Clearance: Maintain a minimum clear space of 10 cm around the product for proper ventilation.
  • Safety Warning: The product must be installed in a heat-resistant environment. Avoid placing chemicals, synthetic components, curtains, or other textiles in the immediate vicinity.
  • Operating Temperature: Under normal conditions, the temperature increase of the heat sink does not exceed 20°C; however, the unit may become hot when conducting a fault ground current.

Safety & Wiring Requirements

  • Correct Wiring: The galvanic isolator must be wired into the green (safety) grounding connection ahead of all other grounding connections to the vessel. This ensures that no ground connections on the vessel can bypass the isolator, which would render it ineffective.
  • Compliance: All connections and safety features must be implemented according to locally applicable regulations.
  • Cabling: Ensure the use of electric cables of the appropriate size for the 32A rating.
