The SmartSolar MPPT 250/85 MC4 VE.Can is a high performance solar charge controller designed to maximise the energy harvested from your solar panels while protecting and extending the life of your batteries. It automatically adapts to 12 V, 24 V or 48 V systems, with manual selection available for 36 V setups. This makes it suitable for off grid cabins, motorhomes, campervans, boats and remote power installations.

Delivering up to 85 A of charging current, the controller supports a maximum PV input power of 4,900 W on a 48 V system or 1,200 W on a 12 V battery bank. It can accept up to 70 A of short circuit current with each MC4 connector rated at 30 A, and the maximum PV open circuit voltage is 250 V in cold conditions with a start up voltage of 245 V. These specifications give you the flexibility to build larger or more efficient arrays using higher voltage panels.

Monitoring and configuration are simple thanks to built in Bluetooth along with VE.Can and VE.Direct communication ports. These options allow you to connect to the VictronConnect app, link the controller to a GX device or integrate it into a multi component energy system. For larger installations, the controller supports synchronised parallel operation. Up to 25 units can be connected using VE.Can, and up to 10 units can be grouped through Bluetooth for coordinated charging.

The controller has been engineered for dependable performance. It uses passive cooling with no fans, resulting in silent operation and fewer moving parts. It delivers full rated output up to 40 °C and operates safely from minus 30 °C to plus 60 °C. Protection features include safeguards against reverse polarity, short circuits, over temperature and other common electrical risks.

Physically, the SmartSolar MPPT 250/85 MC4 VE.Can is built with the recognisable Victron blue housing. It measures approximately 216 × 295 × 103 mm and weighs around 4.5 kg. The compact but solid construction makes it suitable for wall mounting in vehicles, marine compartments or energy cabinets.
