The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/85 Tr VE.Can (Model SCC125085411) is a high performance solar charge controller designed for serious off grid, marine or large solar system installations where reliability and efficiency matter. It supports 12, 24 or 48 volt battery banks with 36 volt selectable manually and delivers up to 85 amps of charge current, making it ideal for systems that demand significant power handling.

With a maximum photovoltaic open circuit voltage of 250 volts, it accommodates larger solar arrays and helps optimise energy harvest even in poor light. Its internal algorithm is highly responsive and advanced, capable of continually tracking the maximum power point under partial shading or rapidly changing conditions. This helps provide stronger yields compared to traditional controllers.

Efficiency is a key strength. The controller maintains conversion efficiency above 99 percent without requiring a cooling fan. It includes built in Bluetooth Smart connectivity for setup, monitoring, firmware updates and synchronisation with other SmartSolar devices. The charge profile is fully programmable, with eight pre set charging algorithms and the option to customise via rotary switch, display, VE.Direct or Bluetooth.

Designed for reliable, long term use, the controller provides an extensive range of electronic protections including over temperature derating, PV short circuit protection, reverse polarity protection and reverse current protection. It is also compatible with smart battery sensors for increased monitoring accuracy. The rugged enclosure is rated IP43 around the electronics and IP22 at the connection area, and the unit operates reliably from minus 30 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius with full rated output up to 40 degrees Celsius.
