The Victron Energy Anti-Islanding Relay is an essential mains monitoring device for grid-tied power generation systems using Victron MultiPlus or Quattro inverter/chargers with ESS (Energy Storage System). This advanced relay is designed to ensure compliance with strict international and UK grid connection regulations, including G59/3 and G83/2, by continuously monitoring voltage and frequency.

When connected to the public electricity grid, the relay reliably detects a grid failure or disruption and automatically isolates the generating system (e.g., solar PV or battery storage) to prevent ‘islanding’, a hazardous condition where a local generator continues to power the grid segment. The unit provides one-fault-proof protection and can also be used for monitoring a second generating plant. It is a robust and crucial component for legal and safe energy systems feeding into the mains supply.
