Victron Orion‑Tr 12/12‑18A (220W) Isolated DC‑DC Converter
The Victron Orion-Tr 12/12-18A (220 W) Isolated DC-DC Converter delivers dependable 12 V power for caravans, motorhomes, boats or mobile systems. It accepts an input voltage from 8 V up to 17 V and provides a regulated 12.2 V output (adjustable between 10 V and 15 V), making it ideal for powering auxiliary systems such as lights, small fridges, cameras or other 12 V accessories.
With a continuous output current of up to 18 A (and up to 25 A for short bursts), the unit provides up to 220 W of output power at 40 °C, and up to 280 W under cooler conditions. The converter features galvanic isolation, which keeps input, output and casing electrically separated. This isolation provides 200 V DC separation for enhanced safety and protection of your system.
Installation is simple thanks to screw-terminal connections that support cable cross-sections up to 16 mm². A remote on/off terminal allows control via a low-current switch, for example triggered by your vehicle ignition or engine run/stop switch. This means you do not need a bulky high-current switch in the input wiring.
The unit is built to cope with real-world conditions. It operates across a temperature range from –20 °C to +55 °C (with output derating as needed) and is rated to resist up to 95 per cent non-condensing humidity.
Because this is a DC-DC converter rather than a battery charger, it is especially suitable when you want to power 12 V loads directly from a vehicle’s alternator or battery system. It is ideal for running appliances in a van or boat, or powering auxiliary batteries to support accessories.
