The Victron SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200 - MC4 is an advanced solar charge controller designed for large-scale systems with high voltage PV arrays. It delivers ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to ensure optimal energy capture from solar panels. It is a powerful solution for charging large battery systems with up to 200A of charging current.

  1. Ultra-Fast MPPT Technology:

    • The MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) feature ensures maximum efficiency by rapidly adjusting to the optimal power point of solar panels. It efficiently charges 48V battery banks with up to 200A of current. The wide 80-450V DC solar voltage input range allows it to work with large series-connected PV arrays, making it ideal for large systems.
  2. Full Connectivity & Monitoring:

    • The controller comes with Bluetooth functionality, allowing easy remote control and monitoring through the VictronConnect app. This app enables users to access real-time data such as battery voltage, solar panel voltage and current, historical performance, and system trends. All settings, including battery charging parameters, are fully programmable to suit different battery chemistries, such as lead-acid or lithium.
  3. Advanced System Integration:

    • VE.Can Bus ports are included for seamless integration with other SmartSolar RS or VE.Can MPPT charge controllers. Multiple units can be daisy-chained with an RJ45 cable, enabling synchronised charging and data sharing. These can also connect to a GX device (like the Cerbo GX) for detailed system monitoring and remote management through the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM).
  4. Remote Monitoring Capabilities:

    • When connected to a GX device and the internet, users can monitor and control the MPPT controller remotely via the VRM Portal, which provides 24/7 access to system data and control from anywhere. For remote installations without internet access, the GlobalLink 520 can be used to monitor system performance.
  5. SmartSolar Control Display:

    • The front panel features a display that provides real-time information such as battery voltage, charge current, PV voltage, and system status. This includes data from both independent MPPT trackers and any error codes for troubleshooting.

    • The I/O connections include a programmable relay and options for remote temperature and voltage sensing, which help in fine-tuning the charging process. The system also supports remote input for devices like the Victron smallBMS and other battery management systems (BMS) with allow-to-charge signals.
